Gilbert Hanners Jr. wanted for Attempted Murder in the Dec. 14 Polk Village shooting; victim remains hospitalized
Case History
At the scene, deputies located an adult male who sustained gunshot wounds.
The scene was secured and Emergency Medical Services transported the wounded man to Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH).
It was learned that the subject responsible for the shooting fled the area before deputies arrived.
Investigation
Investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence from the scene.
Through interviews, investigators learned that the shooting was a targeted incident and the subject was identified as 23-year-old Gilbert Hanners Jr. of Beaufort.
Investigators met with a Beaufort County magistrate and obtained warrants for Hanners Jr. for Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime and Aggravated Breach of Peace.
So far, efforts to locate Hanners Jr. have been unsuccessful.

Sheriff's Office investigators obtained warrants for the arrest of Gilbert Hanners Jr. for Attempted Murder in the Dec. 14, 2021 Westview Ave., Polk Village shooting, in which a man was wounded.
Case History
At approximately 2:30 p.m.on Dec. 14, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim in Polk Village (Beaufort).
At the scene, deputies located an adult male who sustained gunshot wounds.
The scene was secured and Emergency Medical Services transported the wounded man to Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH).
It was learned that the subject responsible for the shooting fled the area before deputies arrived.
