Burglary Investigation Leads to Multiple Arrests

     On Sunday, December 12th, 2021, at approximately 10:30 P.M., the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division, responded to the 100 East Block of Garfield Avenue, located in the City of Wildwood, in reference to a residential burglary, not in progress.  The response was a direct result of the owner of the property receiving notification from, an interior / exterior security surveillance system, reporting a breach into the interior of the residence.  A review of the security video recordings by law enforcement, provided a physical and clothing description of the individual’s responsible for the unlawful entry.
     During the follow-up investigation conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, it was determined that there were three individuals responsible for the unlawful entry into the residence and subsequent removal of property belonging to the victim.  As the investigation proceeded, detectives proactively conducted surveillances in the areas that these individuals were known to frequent.  During the inquiry, two of the individuals identified as persons of interest in connection to the burglary, were taken into custody.  These individuals were identified as Giovanni Alicea-Ocasio, a 31-year-old Hispanic Male, who is an unemployed construction laborer, currently residing in Wildwood, New Jersey, and Kevin Vega-Aguilar, who is a 29-year-old Hispanic Male, who is an unemployed dishwasher, currently residing in Wildwood, New Jersey.  The third suspect was identified as Marangeli Medina, a 26-year-old Hispanic Female, is still at large.   
     As a result of the totality of the circumstances surrounding the aforementioned actions specific to the residential burglary, the following criminal; charges were issued against the defendants in connection to their individual participation / actions.

  1. Giovanni Alicia-Ocasio was arrested and charged with burglary (a crime of the third degree), theft of movable property (a crime of the third degree), possession of narcotics paraphernalia (a disorderly persons offense) and possession of a hypodermic syringe (a disorderly persons offense).  Alicia-Ocasio was released on a criminal summons complaint, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Policies and Directives.
  2. Kevin Vega-Aguilar was arrested and charged with burglary (a crime of the third degree), theft of movable property (a crime of the third degree), possession of a weapon “knife” (a crime of the fourth degree), certain person prohibited to possess a weapon (a crime of the fourth degree), and possession of narcotics paraphernalia (a disorderly persons offense).  Kevin Vega-Aguilar, was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Policies and Directives.
  3. Marangeli Medina, was charged with Burglary (a crime of the third degree), and theft of movable property (a crime of the third degree).  Marangeli‘s whereabouts are currently unknown, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.  Anyone with information specific to Marangeli, is urged to contact the Wildwood Police Department Tel.
