Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 45 year old Black man in Compton.
Deputies from Compton Station responded to the 200 block of North Bowen Avenue regarding a call of gunshots fired. Upon arriving, they discovered the victim in a driveway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators learned a shooting had occurred approximately 1/2 block north of where the victim had been standing with friends. Unknown persons in a compact car exchanged gunfire with an unknown individual on foot near the intersection of North Bowen Avenue and East Palmer Street. Both fled the area after the shooting.
It appears the victim was an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet.
There is no further suspect or suspect vehicle description at this time. The murder weapon remains outstanding. This shooting is being investigated as gang related.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to the 200 block of N. Bowen Avenue in the city of Compton regarding a shooting death investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at approximately 10:05 a.m.
The male adult victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:25 p.m.
