Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 55 year old white male in Carson. 
 
At 4:40 PM today a deputy patrolling Carson was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Carson Street and South Figueroa Street when his attention was drawn by the sound of shouting to the retail center on the northeast corner of the intersection. 
 
The deputy looked over and saw an adult black male pointing a handgun at an unknown target within the retail center. The suspect then fired 6 to 7 rounds before running north into the retail center. The deputy quickly contained the area with the assistance of responding deputies.  
 
Deputies discovered the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk inside the retail center. The victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. 
 
The suspect was located and taken into custody inside an establishment within the retail center.  
 
A second victim, Hispanic male adult, was located in the retail center.

He was not injured. 
 
Investigators learned the suspect approached the two victims. Words were exchanged and the suspect opened fire on both victims. 
 
A firearm was recovered from the scene. 
 
There are no outstanding suspects.

NARRATIVE: 
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to the 21600 Block of South Figueroa Street in the city of Carson regarding a shooting death investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, October 29, 2021 at approximately 4:40 p.m.
 
The male adult victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
