Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult that occurred on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at approximately 11:52 A.M. in the 1000 block of Compton Boulevard in Compton.
Detectives have learned that Compton Station deputies responded to the location regarding an “assault with a deadly weapon, gunshot victim,” in the street.
Upon their arrival, deputies observed the victim, a male Black, approximately 65 years of age, lying on the street, next to a vehicle, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is an associate pastor for a local Christian Church.
Detectives are canvassing the area for possible witnesses and surveillance video that may have captured the incident.
It is unknown if the incident is gang related.
