Narrative:
On 10/20/21, investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office/Thousand Oaks Police Investigations Bureau completed an investigation into numerous storage unit burglaries by arresting two suspects involved in the planning and execution of the crime.

On 09/13/2021, patrol deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Station responded to a storage facility located in the 2400 block of Townsgate Road in the city of Thousand Oaks.  The responding deputies learned 21 storage units had been burglarized with a loss estimated at over $100,000 dollars.  Video surveillance showed the suspects stealing the property and loading it into a rented moving truck and personal vehicle.

Investigators with the Thousand Oaks Police Investigations Bureau, Career Criminals Unit collaborated with patrol deputies, other police agencies and authored numerous search warrants, and used other law enforcement techniques to identify the suspects.  They were identified as Loretta Lutton and Abel Ordaz from Los Angeles, California.

On 10/20/21, the Thousand Oaks investigators served search warrants at both Lutton and Ordaz’ residences, in Los Angeles.  Both parties were arrested and stolen property linking them to the storage unit burglaries was recovered.  Lutton and Ordaz were booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for 7 counts of P.C. 459 Burglary.

Lutton remains in custody with a bail set at $100,000.  Ordaz remains in custody with bail set at $200,000.  Each of their next court dates are October 22, 2021.

Investigators want to express their appreciation for the fact the business had installed high quality surveillance cameras inside and outside their buildings.  The information and data obtained from the surveillance footage was crucial in the quick identification and apprehension of the suspects in this incident.
