Rohnert Park Public Safety is lifting the lockdown for Lawrence Jones Middle School and will lift the lockdown for Evergreen Elementary School shortly.

The mountain lion did not leave on her own and was tranquilized so she could safely be removed from the area. Wildlife experts will ensure she returns back to her home.

Rohnert Park Public Safety Officers remain on scene and Evergreen and Lawrence Jones Middle Schools remain on lockdown. Officers are monitoring the mountain lion, which is known to Fish & Game and has a tracking device. We believe the mountain lion is an adult female.

We ask the public to avoid the area, as we would like the mountain lion to move back to her home on her own.

We expect Fish & Game to arrive within the next half-hour and we will provide additional updates.

Officers are on scene in the area of the Five Creek Tr and Crane Creek Tr just east of Eagle Park and Evergreen School for a mountain lion spotted on the creek path. Avoid the area until officers have cleared it. Fish & Game has been advised. Evergreen & Lawrence Jones Middle Schools are locked down.
