Narrative:

Deputies arrested four juveniles on Sunday for their involvement in a theft, vandalism, and a violation of civil rights.

On September 19, 2021, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies responded to a theft involving four juvenile suspects. Deputies spoke with the four juvenile victims and learned the suspects made derogatory comments regarding the victims’ ethnicity and stole a pair of their shoes.  Deputies also discovered the suspects broke into a vacant business, painted racial slurs on the walls, and emptied fire extinguishers causing significant damage.

The suspects were quickly identified and located nearby. A deputy attempted to contact them, but they fled on foot.  All four suspects were apprehended after a foot pursuit.

The suspects were arrested for theft, vandalism, tampering with fire protection equipment, violation of civil rights and resisting arrest. All four suspects were cited and released to their parents.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department is committed to investigating and pursuing criminals who commit crimes of hate and violence towards a person’s race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability.
