NARRATIVE:
On Saturday, September 18, 2021; Officers from the Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) were in the area of Holt Av. and Garey Av. when they initiated a traffic enforcement stop regarding a lighting equipment violation of a solo-occupied vehicle. During the enforcement stop, Officers contacted the driver who attempted conceal his identity from Officers. In plain view, there was drug paraphernalia which led Officers to remove the driver and search the vehicle. Officers located a loaded handgun magazine next to the drug paraphernalia. Additional searching revealed a loaded firearm and approximately two-ounces of suspected methamphetamine inside of a hidden compartment. The driver was eventually identified as, David Flores who was a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. Flores was on active probation for a previous weapons violation. Flores was taken into-custody and booked locally under the previously mentioned charges.

The Pomona Police Department’s, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) is a specialized unit within the police department that is responsible for suppressing gang violence, investigating drug offenses and pursuing wanted persons. The team is comprised of two supervisors, four officers and two additional officers from the California Highway Patrol – Baldwin Park Office.
