INCIDENT: Near Drowning
LOCATION: Copper Canyon, Lake Havasu

SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 5, 2021, at approximately 2:39 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a near drowning at Copper Canyon, Lake Havasu. As the victim jumped into the water from the large rock formation at Copper Canyon, he engaged in multiple flips in the air. Upon entering the water, the victim was knocked unconscious. A bystander quickly recovered the victim from the water and he soon regained consciousness. The victim was treated and transported from Copper Canyon to shore by the San Bernadino County Fire Department, Boat 18. The victim was then transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit would like to remind the public of the dangers of jumping from tall rock formations into the water. We urge the public to use caution at all times around the water and always wear a personal floatation device.
