On August 19, 2021, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into Raymond Petrie, who was wanted in connection with his sale of narcotics to Ventura County residents which resulted in two separate non-fatal overdoses. On July 22, 2021, Camarillo Patrol deputies were dispatched to a residence in the City of Camarillo reference a non-fatal drug overdose that occurred at the location. On August 7, 2021, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies were dispatched to a residence in the City of Thousand Oaks reference a non-fatal drug overdose that occurred at that location. PCU detectives took over both investigations. With the assistance of the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail, Petrie was identified as the suspect who sold fentanyl to both victims. On August 19, 2021, PCU and Camarillo SED detectives located Petrie in Woodland Hills and arrested him for the overdoses. Petrie was booked into the Ventura County Jail for 11352 HS- Sales of a Controlled Substance. Petrie is ineligible to post bail due to a Violation of Probation from his arrests. His next court date is scheduled for August 25, 2021 in Ventura County Superior Court. The Ventura County Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a task force made up of members from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Thousand Oaks Police Department; The primary mission of the task force is combatting the transfer of legal prescription medication and fentanyl to the illegal market. In addition, the task force works to identify and stop new trends of abuse among the younger population and investigates overdoses due to both prescription medication and illicit drug use. |
