The deceased suspect in this case has been identified as Trinidad Marry, 42-year-old male. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Detectives ask that anyone who witnessed the incident or that may have video that could help in the case, call the Amarillo Police Department at 378-9468.

On August 23rd at 8:08 PM, officers received multiple calls to the area of southeast 5th and Browning Street on a man walking down the street pointing a firearm at people in the neighborhood. Officers contacted the male at southeast 8th and Browning. The male refused to drop the gun and continued walking through the neighborhood waving the firearm. The officers walked with the male to the 500 block of south Bivins Street trying to get the male to drop the weapon. In the 500 block of south Bivins the male was shot by officers. The suspect died at the scene. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

APD investigators are at the scene of an officer involved shooting in the 500 block of south Bivins Street. No officers have been injured. PIO will meet with media at southeast 6th and Pittsburgh Street.
