Couple is Arrested After Four-year-old Child was Taken to the Hospital for Injuries Consistent with Abuse

VICTIM: Confidential, Four-year-old male
SUSPECT: Lacey Golding, 31-year-old female resident of Hesperia.
Brent Hartwig, 36-year-old male resident of Riverside.
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, August 5, 2021, investigators from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Hesperia Station, contacted the Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail regarding a four-year-old male victim who was physically abused and severely malnourished. The victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) for evaluation and was admitted. Medical staff ruled his injuries consistent with non-accidental trauma child abuse.
Following an extensive investigation and collaboration with multiple agencies, the victim’s mother, Lacey Golding, was arrested on Thursday, August 5, 2021 and was booked at the Central Detention Center for willful harm or injury to a child. Golding posted bail in the amount of $100,000 on Friday, August 6, 2021 and was released from custody. Golding’s live-in boyfriend, Brent Hartwig, was later arrested on Thursday, August 19, 2021 and was booked at the Central Detention Center for willful harm or injury to a child. Hartwig posted bail in the amount of $50,000 on Friday, August 20, 2021 and was released from custody.
