Man Arrested after Seriously Injuring Motorcyclist in Crash

Suffolk County Police arrested a man following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in Lindenhurst last night.
 
John Ray was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata westbound on Montauk Highway and attempted to turn left onto South Walnut Street, when he collided with an eastbound 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Thomas Pendolino, at 6:34 p.m.
 
Pendolino, 24, of Lindenhurst, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Ray, 53, of Copiague, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol and will be arraigned at a later date.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
