Muti-way Stop Intersections Code Amendments - Madison Avenue and also Kayser Avenue

New Multi-Way Stop Intersections

****UPDATE****

The intersection of Kayser Avenue and E. 10th Avenue is now an all-way stop! A message board has been deployed in the area to remind drivers of the change.

On June 7, 2021 Ordinance 2021-1000 was passed, amending Chapter VIII, Section 25 of the Code of the Borough of Pine Hill captioned “Multi-way Stop Intersections” to include the following intersections;
  • Madison Avenue at the intersection of Washington Avenue – 3 way Stop
  • Kayser Avenue at the intersection of East Tenth Avenue – 4 way stop
Stop signs have been installed at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Washington Avenue, effective July 16, 2021.  The variable message board has also been deployed advising motorists of the stop intersection.

On or about July 23, 2021, stop signs will be installed on Kayser Avenue at the intersection of East Tenth Avenue, establishing a 4-way stop at the intersection.  The variable message board will be deployed in the area at that time to assist in advising motorists.

Stop lines will also be installed at the affected intersections. Under N.J.S.A. § 39:4-144, a driver approaching an intersection marked with a stop sign must bring his or her vehicle to a complete stop within 5 feet of the nearest crosswalk or stop line. Therefore, slowing down or almost stopping at a stop sign is not sufficient.
