Narrative: | |||||
On June 25, 2021, members of the Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision Unit contacted and arrested Post Release Offender Pedro Garcia for violating the terms of his probation after he was found in possession of unregistered firearms and a large quantity of narcotics possessed for sale. Members of the PROS Unit contacted Garcia during an appointment at the Ventura County Probation office. Garcia is supervised by Ventura probation officers and had been attempting to conceal his place of residence in order to avoid regular compliance checks. Members of the PROS Unit had been working with detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and collectively identified Garcia’s true residence located in the 1100 Block of South Oxnard Boulevard in Oxnard. Garcia was detained during his appointment with probation and PROS officers responded to his residence to conduct a compliance check. During the search, officers located over six pounds of methamphetamine, over one pound of fentanyl, heroin, and evidence indicative of narcotics sales. Officers located two unregistered firearms and ammunition. One of the firearms located is commonly referred to as a “Ghost Gun” due to the lack of commercial serial number, which makes the firearm untraceable and allows the possessor to circumvent regulated background checks by the Department of Justice. Garcia is a documented gang member and was recently released from prison. Garcia has an extensive criminal history that prohibits him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition. Garcia was arrested for violating the terms of his probation and was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The investigation is on-going and Garcia is expected to be charged with various firearms and narcotics sales charges. The Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision Unit is comprised of Deputy Probation Officers from the Ventura County Probation Agency, a Ventura Police Department Officer, a Simi Valley Police Department Officer, and a Deputy Sheriff with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. |
