Narrative:

On June 15, 2021, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Gang Unit contacted and arrested Aaron Duran and Igor Cortinovis for narcotics sales and possession of an assault weapon.

In early June 2021, detectives from the Sheriff’s Gang Unit obtained information that indicated Duran was involved in the sales of fentanyl and was possibly in possession of an assault rifle.  Detectives began an investigation and determined Duran was on active Ventura County probation with search terms for stolen property. Duran also had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.  During the investigation, detectives gathered enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for an apartment associated to Duran located in the 700 block of Hill Road in Ventura.

On June 15, 2021, detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment.  Duran was contacted inside the residence and arrested for the felony warrant. Detectives also contacted Cortinovis, who was hiding inside his bedroom.  During a search of the room associated to Duran, detectives seized approximately 80 grams of fentanyl, prescription pills and other evidence indicative of drug sales.  Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is highly abused.  During a search of Cortinovis’ bedroom, detectives located a loaded short-barreled AR-15 style rifle that did not have a serial number as required per the California Department of Justice. Additionally, the rifle had characteristics which classify it as an assault weapon per state law.

Based on the investigation, Duran was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for his outstanding felony warrant and possession for sales of narcotics.  Cortinovis was arrested and booked for being in possession of an assault weapon.
