SUMMARY:
On Monday, May 31, 2021, at approximately 5:26 AM, Hesperia Station Deputies were dispatched to the 11400 Block of Fashion Court, Hesperia, in reference to a male that had been shot while in his vehicle. Deputies arrived on the scene, locating the male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived provided treatment to the victim for non-life-threatening injuries and he was later transported to a local trauma center for further evaluation.
Deputies determined that the victim, who was the driver of a delivery vehicle was sitting in his truck at a local business when the suspect approached on foot and for unknown reasons, fired directly into the cab of the vehicle, striking the victim. The suspect immediately fled the scene and was not located during a search of the area.
Through investigation and evidence located at the scene, investigators were able to positively identify Antonio Morales as the suspect and an Attempted Murder arrest warrant was issued for his arrest.
Hesperia Station Detectives and the Hesperia Station Gang Team began to actively search for Morales and on June 3, 2021, at about 12:17 am, Morales was located in the area of Peach and Hackberry in Hesperia where he was arrested without incident.
A firearm was recovered that is believed to have been involved in the shooting. It was also determined that Morales's vehicle was involved in a vehicle pursuit with Hesperia Deputies during an attempted traffic stop on May 28, 2021, where the driver evaded arrest and the pursuit was terminated. That investigation is ongoing.
