There remains a heavy police presence in the area surrounding this incident, and this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
Those located in the area between 23rd Street and 27th Street, from West Street to Carter Street, are asked to shelter in place and await further instructions from police.
Original message (June 2):
Wilmington Police are conducting an investigation in the 2400 block of North Market Street. Three Wilmington Police officers responding to a call for service were injured by gunfire.
The three officers have been transported to the hospital in stable condition.
This incident remains under active investigation and further details will be released when possible.
