During the months of May 2021, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit worked in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Narcotics Street Team regarding (S) Armando Arias who was believed to be involved with unlawful narcotics and firearm activities.
On May 26, 2021, at about 9:00 AM, detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit and Narcotics Street Team executed a search warrant at Arias’ residence located in the unincorporated area of north Oxnard known as Nyeland Acres. As a result of the search warrant, an unregistered firearm, loaded high capacity magazine, and useable amount of controlled substances were located and seized. Unregistered firearms such as the one seized are commonly referred to as “Ghost Guns” because they are illegally manufactured firearms that lack serial numbers or markings.
Armando Arias is a convicted felon and criminal street gang member from Oxnard. He was arrested for various firearm offenses, including Penal Code § 29800(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Firearm], 30305(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Ammunition], 27545 – [Unlawful Firearm Transfer], and Health & Safety Code § 11370.1(a) – [Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with Firearm]. He was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility pending court proceedings. |
