SMPD Detectives Actively Investigating A Homicide.

The San Mateo Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 8:58 p.m. in the parking lot of the San Mateo Adult School located at 789 E Poplar Avenue.

San Mateo, CA - On Friday, May 14, 2021 at 08:58 p.m., San Mateo Police officers were dispatched to the San Mateo Adult School on the report of a shooting.  Officers quickly arrived on scene and located a 19-year old male in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the school’s parking lot.  The victim had been shot in the abdomen.  Officers rendered first aid on the male before he was transported to a local trauma center.  Unfortunately, the male succumbed to his injuries.  Detectives learned this incident was not associated or related to any activity or event at The San Mateo Adult School or San Mateo High School.  According to witnesses, after the gunfire ended a group fled the scene on foot.  SMPD immediately launched an intensive investigation and are working vigorously to bring all responsible parties to justice.
