Narrative: | |||||
On May 13, 2021, detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) and Sheriff’s Gang Unit arrested three Thousand Oaks residents for felony graffiti vandalism, committing a crime for the benefit of a criminal street gang, possession of narcotics for sales and possession of metal knuckles. On May 11, 2021, Thousand Oaks patrol deputies discovered gang related graffiti that had been applied to a marked Thousand Oaks patrol vehicle. Patrol deputies were able to identify (S) Alex Goodro as a primary suspect in the vandalism. Detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit and Directed Enforcement Unit began an investigation and linked Goodro to another gang related graffiti incident that occurred on or about April 19, 2021. As the investigation continued, SEU detectives identified (S) Salvador Arroyo as an additional suspect involved in the graffiti vandalism of the patrol vehicle. Detectives determined Arroyo was on felony probation and collaborated with the Ventura County Probation Agency’s East County Post Release Unit to determine there was probable cause to arrest Arroyo for 1203.2(a) PC – Violation of Probation. On May 13, 2021, SEU detectives developed information that Goodro and Arroyo were staying at a hotel in the 400 block of Harbor Drive in Ventura. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Gang Unit responded and detained Arroyo, Goodro, (S) Catalina Gonzalez and two other subjects as they left the hotel. SEU detectives responded and assumed the investigation. During the ensuing investigation, detectives obtained evidence linking Goodro and Arroyo to the vandalism of the marked Thousand Oaks patrol vehicle. During a search of Goodro’s vehicle SEU detectives located approximately ½ pound of suspected methamphetamine. Gonzalez was also found to be in possession of metal knuckles. SEU detectives arrested Arroyo for Graffiti Vandalism over $400 – 594(b)(1) PC, Participation in a Criminal Street Gang – 186.22(b)(1) PC, and a violation of his probation. SEU detectives arrested Goodro for Graffiti Vandalism over $400 – 594(b)(1) PC, two counts of Participation in a Criminal Street Gang – 186.22(b)(1) PC and 186.22(d) PC, Graffiti Vandalism under $400 – 594(b)(2)(A) PC, Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales – 11378 HS and misdemeanor charges. SEU detectives arrested Gonzalez for Possession of Metal Knuckles – 21810 PC. Arroyo, Goodro and Gonzalez were booked into the Main Jail for the violations. Arroyo’s bail was set at $110,000 and Goodro’s total bail was set at $505,000. Gonzalez was released from custody on her own recognizance. |
