28-year-old Alexander Lomax is facing additional charges after a third case involving an elderly female is tied to suspect.

On the evening of May 13, 2021, patrol officers booked 28-year-old Alexander Lomax into Santa Rita Jail after he committed a series of sexual assaults.  The series includes two assaults that occurred on May 13, 2021, and third assault at the Safeway (the Hub Shopping Center) that occurred on May 5, 2021.

On May 13, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Lomax was arrested after severely beating and sexually assaulting a 67-year-old female in the front yard of a residence near Grimmer Blvd. and Blacow Rd.  During the attack, Lomax punched the victim in the back of the head and then struck her repeatedly in the head and face.  He then dragged her across a lawn where he began sexually assaulting her in broad daylight.  Witnesses called 911 and patrol officers arrived while Lomax was completely nude and still sexually assaulting the victim.  Officers rushed to the victim's aid which caused Lomax to stop the assault and surrender.  Lomax was detained and officers provided medical attention to the victim until paramedics arrived on scene.  The victim was transported to a trauma center with major injuries including significant facial injuries and multiple broken bones throughout her body.  None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Several hours prior, at approximately 9:47 a.m., Lomax had assaulted a 57-year-old female in the area of Auto Mall Pkwy. and Fremont Bl.  The victim was walking in the area when Lomax punched her in the back of the head and pushed her to the ground.  Lomax then got on top of the victim as she began fighting back which included biting him on the arm.  A witness interrupted the assault and Lomax fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.  The victim later positively identified Lomax as her attacker.

During the investigation, detectives connected a third sexual assault from May 5, 2021 to Lomax.  At approximately 6:01 p.m., a 75-year-old victim was shopping at the Safeway at the Hub when Lomax walked up behind her and grabbed her arm.  Lomax began forcefully thrusting his clothed pelvic area into the victim’s buttocks.  The victim screamed at the suspect who then fled the store prior to the arrival of patrol officers.  The victim later positively identified Lomax as her attacker.

“I am deeply disturbed by the three sexual assault incidents that have recently occurred in our community.  My heart is full of sadness for the victims.  On behalf of the entire Fremont community, you are all in our thoughts and while we know your recovery will be long, we will continue to be by your side,” stated Fremont Mayor Lily Mei.  “This act of violence is unacceptable, and we must stand together united with zero tolerance for sexual harassment and violence in our community.  I implore our District Attorney to prioritize this case and see that the suspect is held accountable for these atrocious crimes. I would like to thank the community members who took immediate action to call 911, as well as our first responders from police and fire for their expedited and caring response. Now more than ever I call on our community to take the action to be upstanders and not bystanders.”

“As a police chief and as a woman, I am completely horrified by this crime.  My thoughts are with the victims during this incredibly difficult time.  I can assure the public that this case is the Department’s highest priority and we are working diligently with the District Attorney to keep this offender in custody.  I have also dedicated the necessary resources to investigate whether we have more victims in our community, and we will ensure that all will be provided with victim support services,” stated Fremont Police Chief Kimberly Petersen.
