Full Notification

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, at approximately 11:31 PM, the Wildwood Police Department Communication Center received a 911 emergency call reporting that there was a victim of a stabbing in the area of Montgomery Avenue and Pacific Avenue within the City of Wildwood. While patrol officers were responding to the scene an officer observed an individual running from the area and discarding an item down a storm drain. This individual was detained by patrol officers and was later confirmed to be the defendant Dimael Lassalle-Sanchez an unemployed 26 year old male resident of Wildwood, NJ.

An investigation was completed by the Wildwood Police Detective Division with the assistance of the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office which lead to the following charges against the defendant: 2C:5-1A(1) Criminal Attempt – Murder a crime of the 1st degree, 2C:12-1B(1) Aggravated Assault (Serious bodily injury) a crime of the 2nd degree, 2C:12-1B(3) Aggravated Assault (With Weapon) a crime of the 3rd degree, 2C:39-4D Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose a crime of the 3rd degree, 2C:39-5D Unlawful Possession Weapon a crime of the 4th degree, 2C:29-3B(1) Hindering Apprehension a crime of the 3rd degree, 2C:35-10A(1) Possession of CDS (Alprazolam) a crime of the 3rd degree.

These charges were placed on a warrant complaint and the defendant was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in accordance with New Jersey Criminal Justice Reform guidelines. The victim was treated on scene by the City of Wildwood Fire Department, and transported to Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center due to the seriousness of his injuries.
