Update from Mayor Bhalla on COVID-19 (5/3); SBA small business grant applications; vaccine clinics this week

Below is an update from Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla on COVID-19:
 
New confirmed cases from the Hoboken Health Department:

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 4,941 known, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hoboken. I’m saddened two learn of two additional COVID-19 related fatalities reported to the Hoboken Health Department, and I send my condolences to their families and loved ones. Carepoint reports treating seven patients with COVID-19, which does not include any Hoboken residents.
 
The Hoboken Health Department has administered 7,760 first doses (Moderna and Pfizer) at Carepoint, along with 4,133 second doses (Moderna and Pfizer) since the start of the vaccinations. In partnership with Medicine Man Pharmacy and Hoboken Family Pharmacy, 381 one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been administered, which includes 30 homebound residents. As of Thursday evening, 25,088 Hoboken residents were provided with at least a first Moderna or Pfizer dose or Johnson & Johnson dose, and 14,399 fully vaccinated with any of the vaccines. According to statistics provided by the State of New Jersey, Hoboken remains in line with the vaccination rates with the rest of the State.

As shared last week, below is the updated vaccine schedule for this week. Please note that Tuesday’s clinic at 605 Jackson Street with Medicine Man Pharmacy is now also a walk-in clinic, with registration encouraged, but not required. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please consider utilizing the options below, which have more than enough supply to accommodate the demand.

SBA small business grants – applications open today
 
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBBA) recently allocated $28.6 billion for a Restaurant Revitalization Fund to assist with COVID-19 relief, through the American Rescue Plan. Applications to receive grant funding from this allocation open today at noon on the SBA website.
 
Information on the fund from the SBA:
 
The American Rescue Plan Act established the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) to provide funding to help restaurants and other eligible businesses keep their doors open. This program will provide restaurants with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business and no more than $5 million per physical location. Recipients are not required to repay the funding as long as funds are used for eligible uses no later than March 11, 2023.
 
Eligible recipients include:

  • Restaurants
  • Food stands, food trucks, food carts
  • Caterers
  • Bars, saloons, lounges, taverns
  • Snack and nonalcoholic beverage bars
  • Bakeries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Brewpubs, tasting rooms, taprooms (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Breweries and/or microbreweries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Wineries and distilleries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Inns (onsite sales of food and beverage to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Licensed facilities or premises of a beverage alcohol producer where the public may taste, sample, or purchase products
For days 1-21 of the application period, the SBA will give priority to businesses primarily owned by women, veterans, or economically disadvantaged individuals. From day 22 on, the application period will open up to all remaining applicants.
