Deputies responded to a boat on fire at Park Moabi near Pirates Cove Resort docks.

INCIDENT: BOAT FIRE
LOCATION: PARK MOABI, NEEDLES
SUMMARY: April 10, 2021, deputies responded to the report of a boat on fire at Park Moabi near the Pirates Cove Resort docks. Upon arrival deputies located a male suffering from burns and a personal watercraft (PWC) upside down in the water. San Bernardino County Fire Department and Baker Ambulance responded and the male burn victim was flown by Care Flight to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment of his injuries. Through investigation it was discovered the male was working on the PWC and had removed the spark plug from the motor. The male attempted to start the PWC
with the spark plug near the motor causing the fuel inside the motor to ignite from the spark of the plug causing an explosion.
