Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide investigators are continuing to assist the Monterey Park Police Department in investigating the circumstances surrounding a double murder that occurred on Monday, April 5, 2021, at approximately 6:28 p.m., on the 500 block of West Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park.
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect and attempted to locate him. Homicide detectives, with the assistance of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, and the FBI/LAPD Fugitive Task Force, detained the suspect at the Mexican border Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The suspect was transported to Monterey Park Police Department where he was arrested for the murders of Victim Zhaiming Lee (37 years-old male Asian) and Ling Ling Wang (36 years-old female Asian) Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
The Suspect has been identified as Jing Yixin (aka Yixin Jing), a 38 year old Asian male and resident of Monterey Park.
Detectives believe Suspect Yixin is the husband of Victim Ling Ling Wang, and the father of two children they share (daughters age 9 and 12).
The motive is unknown at this time and the search for the weapon continues.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing to assist Monterey Park Police Department with a shooting death investigation of a male and female Asian in the city of Monterey Park.
Monterey Park Police Officers responded to the location regarding a 911 call of a shooting that occurred on Monday, April 5, 2021, at approximately 6:28 PM, on the 500 block of W. Garvey Ave., Monterey Park.
When officers arrived, they observed the male and female victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses describe the shooter as a male Asian in his late 30’s or early 40’s. It appears the suspect knew and specifically targeted the victims. This incident does not appear to be a random act of violence.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.
