03/01/2020 *Malicious Destruction of Property
7900 Block of Turnberry – A victim reported that sometime between 02/28 10pm & 02/29 8:30am an unknown suspect(s) spray painted an un- meaningful message on the side of his house with black spray paint. The case remains under investigation.

03/01/2021 *Larceny from Building
300 Six Mile Rd – A complainant reported that an unknown male entered the business and asked for an e-cigarette – upon receiving the e-cigarette, the suspect placed a ½ dollar bill on the counter and walked out. Officers were able to locate the suspect, who admitted to the theft and handed over the e-cigarette. The suspect was issued a trespass notice and the e-cigarette returned to the store.

03/02/2021 *Vehicle Crash –Assist Fire –Death Investigation
E. North Territorial & Spencer – Officers & Northfield Twp Fire Fighters responded to a single vehicle crash/rollover, with the vehicle on fire. Upon arrival, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, and after extinguishing the fire, the body of the driver was discovered. Officers were able to determine the identity of the 63 year old male, relatives were notified of the incident and the medical examiner contacted; The case was turned over to the Accident Investigation Team.

03/05/2021 *Trespass Notice Issued
500 Block of E. Shore – A complainant reported receiving a strange letter in the mail, the investigation revealed the sender of the letter who admitted to sending the correspondence after having a dispute with the complainant. No threats were made, but the suspect was advised that a trespass warning was being issued.

03/05/2021 *Hit & Run – Property Damage
500 Block of Six Mile Rd – A complainant reported that upon return to her residence at 10 pm on 03/04/2021, she discovered vehicle damage to both her mail box and trash recycling container. No evidence or witnesses were available at the time of the report, but if anyone has information regarding this incident they are asked to contact the Northfield Township Police.

03/05/2021 *Extortion
A suspect used Instagram to lure a 15 year old male into believing he was communicating with an 18 year old female – the suspect was able to convince the victim to send a compromising photo of himself. Once the suspect received the photo, the suspect threatened the victim that the photo would be shared if he did not send money through a cash app. When the suspect did not receive the money, the suspect forwarded a photo to a few Instagram friends, threatening more would be sent if they did not get the money requested. The young victim, shared the threats with his family who reported it to Northfield Police. The case remains under investigation.

PLEASE HAVE A DISCUSSION WITH YOUR CHILDREN - TikTok and Instagram incidents are on the rise - They should not accept people they do not know into their circle of social media. Also, they should Never send compromising photos of themselves to anyone – If the photo displays nudity – the minor/sender is committing a crime. Teens should not send any photos to people they do not know outside of the social media site.

03/06/2021 *Felonious Assault / Trespass
7100 Block of Avey Lane – Two victims reported that while jogging they felt threatened by a male with a firearm. The investigation revealed that the joggers were on a private road, and the suspect was identified. The suspect may have been target shooting, but the investigation continued and interviews were completed. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office, where charges were denied.

03/12/2021 *Larceny
9100 Block of Lakewood – A victim reported that her locked up firearm was stolen and suggested a possible suspect. The case remains under investigation.

03/12/2021 *Attempt Fraud
200 Block of East Shore – A complainant reported that she received a $1450.00 check from an unknown sender claiming she could be a “Secret Shopper” and instructed her to cash the check, purchase Nike Gift Cards and send info from the cards to a designated email. The recipient did not fall for this scheme, and made a police report. THIS IS MOST CERTAIN A FRAUD SCHEME – Do not buy gift cards for any reason other than to give as a gift. NEVER share gift card numbers with anyone you do not know.

03/12/2021 *Breaking and Entering –Shed
100 Block of Emerald Circle – A complainant reported that someone advised her that her locked shed was opened. An Officer arrived to observe that the door was open and the lock plate pulled off. At the time of the report it is believed that an old lawn mower and golf clubs had been removed. The case remains under investigation.

03/13/2021 *Neighbor Problem
Coyle Road – Officers responded to verbal dispute between neighbors. Officers determined no physical contact had occurred and were able to mediate the situation. Harassment claims by both parties are being investigated.

03/15/2021 *Assault & Battery
300 Block of Ruby Lane – A victim reported while visiting a friend he was physically attacked and chased from the home. The investigating Officers took contradictory statements and the victim declined any medical attention. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

03/20/2021 *Disorderly Conduct
9100 Block of Wildwood – Officers responded to an Assault & Battery incident and determined a friend was attempting to restrain a possible intoxicated subject from driving. After confirming the subject was intoxication and hearing details of a family emergency, Officers mediated a solution. An Officer transported the subject to meet a family member, who drove him to his destination.

03/20/2021 *Attempt to Fraud
Whitmore Lake Road – A complainant reported that she received a call from a female claiming to be her daughter who was involved in a crash that involved a drug dealer. The caller was requesting $1000.00 be brought to a designated area in Ann Arbor. The complainant confirmed her daughter was fine, did not fall prey to the scheme and made a police report.
*****Be cautious when receiving an Emergency call requesting immediate funds – These calls are mostly likely a fraud attempt.

03/25/21 *Arrest – Felony Fugitive Warrants
Whitmore Lake Rd and Joy Rd – An Officer responded to a call of a suspicious hitch hiker. During the investigation, the Officer learned that the subject was wanted on an outstanding felony fugitive warrant. The subject was arrested and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.

03/25/2021 *No Insurance – Vehicle Impounded
North Territorial & Sutton – An Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding and discovered the driver did not have insurance on the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the driver escorted to a place she was to meet a new ride.

03/28/2021 *Civil Issue – Harassing Threats
Emerald Circle – A complainant reported that after selling a vehicle, he was receiving threats from the buyer regarding the condition of the vehicle. The investigation revealed the sale was a civil matter, but the threats could be criminal. The Officer explained the difference to both parties and advised they have no further contact unless there was court involvement

03/29/2021 *Larceny of Dog
9200 Block of Brookside – A victim reported that while a friend was watching her dog, the friends’ ex- girlfriend stole her dog. The case remains under investigation.

03/30/2021 *Trespass Notices
8300 Block of Main St – A complainant reported that two evicted residents returned to claim abandoned property –after a verbal altercation the manager called the police. The investigation did not disclose any threat or physical assault and the subjects did not want to pursue action regarding the abandoned property. The manager requested the two subjects be given trespass notices.
