Sheriffs Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent bludgeoning death of a 70 year old woman in Baldwin Park.
Officers from the Baldwin Park Police Department responded to a home in the 3000 block of Mangum Street at 9:40 PM regarding a call of a disturbance involving a male suspect attacking an individual with a stick.
Upon arriving, officers located at least three victims outside the residence. One of the victims, a female white 70, was unresponsive in the yard. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The two additional victims, a man and woman, were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released.
The officers were directed to the suspect who lives in a rear house on the property. That suspect, a Hispanic man 27, barricaded himself inside the home. A tactical operation is underway and being conducted by the Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau. Crisis negotiators are on scene.
There are no other suspects outstanding or any additional victims.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and Homicide Bureau personnel are responding to assist Baldwin Park Police Department with an armed barricaded murder suspect. The incident was reported Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at approximately 9:40 P.M., on the 3400 block of Mangum St, Baldwin Park.
SEB personnel will assume tactical command and attempt to bring this to a peaceful conclusion.
