| On March 23, 2021, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Gang Unit contacted and arrested Michael Rios from Ventura and arrested him for an outstanding felony warrant and possession for sales of heroin. During the month of March 2021, detectives with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit obtained information indicating Rios was involved in the sales of heroin to residents of Ventura County. Detectives began an investigation and determined Rios was on active Ventura County probation and had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. On March 23, 2021, detectives contacted Rios in the 100 Block of Oak Street in Ventura and arrested him for his felony warrant. During his arrest, Rios was in possession of money and evidence indicative of narcotics sales. Following his arrest, detectives conducted a probation search of a hotel room in Ventura and a storage unit used by Rios. During the search, detectives seized approximately 15 ounces of heroin packaged for sale and additional money believed to be drug sale proceeds. Based on the investigation, Rios was also arrested for possession for sales of heroin. Rios was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is awaiting court proceedings. Heroin is a contributor to both fatal and non-fatal overdoses taking place in Ventura County. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is committed to aggressively target narcotics sales and help combat opiate overdoses in Ventura County. |
