Michael Jewell of Needles was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm

INCIDENT: PC 29800(A)(1) Felon in Possession of a Firearm
LOCATION: F Street / Third Street Needles
SUSPECT(S): Michael Jewell, 48 years old, resident of Needles
SUMMARY:
On March 15, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department, conducted a traffic stop in the area of Third Street and F Street in Needles, for a vehicle code violation. The driver, identified as Michael Jewell, was detained and told deputies there was a shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle. Through further investigation, deputies discovered that Jewell was a career criminal, a convicted felon and was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a shotgun, handgun and several boxes of ammunition in the trunk. Jewell was arrested for P.C. 29800 (A)(1) Felon in Possession of a Firearm and was booked into the Colorado River Station jail on $50,000 bail and is awaiting a court hearing.
