PC 245 (A) (1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon

LOCATION: 9500 Block of Hampshire Street

SUSPECT: Kevin Maldonado-Davila, 28-years-old of Rancho Cucamonga

Summary:
On February 24, 2021, at about 4:00 p.m., the victim was driving north on Malachite Avenue approaching a stop sign when he noticed a male subject on a bicycle behind him. The subject collided into the rear of the victim’s vehicle and immediately confronted him. The subject, later identified as Kevin Maldonado-Davila, demanded the victim’s insurance information and when the victim pulled out his cell phone to call his parents, Maldonado-Davila produced a knife, snatched the phone out of the victim’s hands and fled the area.

The victim returned home where he and his brother pinged the cell phone to a residence in the 9500 block of Hampshire Street. The victim and his brother went to the home in an attempt to get the phone back. Maldonado-Davila appeared from the backyard with the same knife and refused to return the phone. The victim and his brother notified police and waited down the street to avoid further confrontation.

Deputies arrived and searched the home for Maldonado-Davila but were unable to locate him. During an area check, deputies contacted Maldonado-Davila after he was seen near Malachite Avenue and Foothill Boulevard riding a bike. Maldonado-Davila was arrested and booked in at the West Valley Detention Center where he remains in custody on $100,000 bail.
