#LASD (UPDATE) Detectives are Responding to a Deputy Involved Shooting Investigation, 18200blk Gale Ave. #Industry

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Industry Station detectives are continuing their investigation into a non-hit deputy involved shooting. The incident occurred Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at approximately 7:25 p.m., on the 18200 block of Gale Avenue in the city of Industry.

Detectives have learned an Industry Station deputy was stopped at a light when he observed a reckless driver pass through the intersection eastbound on Gale Avenue from Azusa Avenue. Before the deputy was able to catch up to the suspect to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect collided into a signal pole on the 18200 block of Gale Avenue.

Once the deputy relocated the suspect and saw he had crashed the vehicle, he observed the suspect attempting to flee the scene. During the deputy’s attempts to detain the suspect, a deputy involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was not struck by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries he sustained in the traffic collision.

The deputy was not injured.

The suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene.
