INCIDENT: PC 288.3(a) - Unlawful communication with a minor, with the intent to commit sexual acts
 
LOCATION: Central Detention Center 630 East Rialto Avenue, San Bernardino
 
SUSPECT(S):  Michael Starkweather, age 36 a resident of San Bernardino
 
VICTIM(S): Confidential
 
 
SUMMARY: On February 11, 2021, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department concluded an annoying/molesting a child investigation, which involved 36-year-old Michael Starkweather of San Bernardino. Starkweather is an inmate in San Bernardino County Sheriff’s custody and is currently housed at Central Detention Center. Starkweather contacted a juvenile victim dozens of times during recorded jail phone calls and written correspondence, expressing his intent to commit sexual acts with the victim upon his release from custody.
 
Starkweather was interviewed regarding this investigation. At the conclusion of the interview, Starkweather was supplementally booked for PC 288.3(a) – Unlawful communication with a minor, with the intent to commit sexual acts.
