INCIDENT: Assault with a Weapon

LOCATION: 13401 Main Street, Hesperia

SUSPECTS: Spencer Kogut, 23-year-old male, resident of Victorville 20-year-old male, resident of Victorville

VICTIM: 19-year-old male, resident of Victorville


SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 8, 2021, at approximately 8:22 p.m., deputies responded to Walmart, 13401 Main Street, in reference to an assault. Spencer Kogut and a male subject approached the victim at the location and attempted to incite a fight. Kogut assaulted the victim, and the second suspect brandished a taser. He attempted to tase the victim. Kogut then brandished a knife and cut the victim, causing a small laceration. The suspects fled on foot and were unable to be located. The victim sustained minor injuries and denied medical attention.

Through investigation, deputies identified the adult male and Spencer Kogut as suspects. Kogut was arrested in Victorville and booked at High Desert Detention Center for PC 245(a)(1)- assault with a deadly weapon. The second suspect was interviewed and released. The report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges of the 20-year-old male's involvement in the incident. The investigation is on-going.
