Expect & Prepare for 8 to 12 Inches of Snow. Late 1/31/2021 into all day 2/1/2021

Welcome to our first for 2021!
I have spoken with our resident meteorologist Lt. McMahon. He has predicted a solid 6 to 10 inches with high confidence. Elsa agrees and my index is a 9 for this one with the possibility of 12 inches of snow. She is getting her way on this one! Olaf concurs as well with an 8 for very good snowman making. I have opened negotiations with Heat Miser for a little rain or fog but things are not going well. The good news is the week ahead will be warmer.

Spend the day tomorrow preparing your snow thrower, generator, shovels, pet friendly ice melt, and of course peanut butter and fluff!! ( I know, it's not Keto but neither is bread and milk.) Creative excuses for not going to work are harder now if you work from home. Dangerous walk from the kitchen to your computer? I'm OK with it.

If your kids are too busy to shovel, it appears there IS an app for that and many companies are providing snow shoveling services. Just use caution.

Here is the important stuff.....
Generators - if you haven't tested them please do. Have a young person pull start as part of their HIIT Training. . Please keep them away from the house.  The same with the snow thrower, better now than in the blizzard.

Fire Hydrants - Be a good neighbor and clear a path around them

Leaves and Brush - There are no pickups this time of year so please bring them back into the yard.

Driving - Please don't. If you have to, clear the ENTIRE windshield front and back and roof. Please remove snow from the roof!!!!! Please remove snow from the roof!!!

Pets - You know me! Unless they are a Husky or a breed that enjoys this weather, please keep them warm and under the covers.

Please stay safe and warm. Our officers will be out there 24/7 if you need anything.

Here is information for the utilities. Please contact them if you lose power and not HQ. We have a real time map and will be tracking events as they unfold.

JCP&L Monitoring Weather and Prepared to Respond
Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) meteorologists are closely monitoring the developing weather conditions. JCP&L is prepared to activate its storm response and Incident Command System plans.
In the event outages occur due to severe weather, customers without power are encouraged to report their outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487.
Customers should immediately report downed wires to 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or call their local police department.  JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity.  Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris.  Motorists are cautioned to treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.
JCP&L customers can subscribe to email and text message alert notifications to receive weather updates in advance of major storms and updates on scheduled or extended power outages.  Visit www.firstenergycorp.com/connect to enroll.

Report problems

It is important to always report outages to PSE&G. Don’t assume someone else has reported it, even if it’s your next door neighbor. It is easy to report your outage via our Customer Service line at 1-800-436-7734 or online through MyAccount.

If your fuse or breakers are in a flooded area, do not go near them until the water recedes or is removed.

Stay Connected

General information on outage activity is available online at www.pseg.com/outagecenter and on Twitter and Facebook. Social media should not be used to report outages or emergencies.

With PSE&G’s MyAccount, you can report problems and track progress online, and with MyAlerts, you can receive updates about your service via email and text message. You can request that multiple email addresses or phone numbers get messages about an account, and you can add multiple PSE&G accounts to a single mobile phone number.
