San Benito Health Foundation Under Investigation for Allegations of Inappropriate Vaccine Plan Diversion

San Benito County, California January 28, 2021: On January 25th, 2021, San Benito County Public Health Services reported allegations of vaccine plan non-compliance regarding the San Benito County Health Foundation administration of the COVID-19 vaccine to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

On January 22nd, 2021, San Benito County Health and Human Services Agency- Public Health Services was made aware of allegations that one local provider, the San Benito Health Foundation, may have failed to follow California’s Vaccination Plan which outlines phases and tiers for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Each provider is required to follow the vaccine guidance issued by the CDPH based on the prioritization and equity within the phases and tiers. San Benito County takes this allegation very seriously and it is currently investigating.

San Benito County Public Health Services is also evaluating additional action that may be taken by the County.  At this time, the County does not know the number of individuals that may have received the vaccine outside of the phase, tier and/or priority of prescribed vaccine administration. San Benito will work in collaboration with CDPH to ensure a full investigation is completed.

San Benito County Public Health Services’ goal is for complete transparency to the public it serves and equity for all those seeking the COVID-19 vaccine. The State of California Vaccine Plan exists to insure equality and fairness for all. It is important that all providers adhere to all guidelines of the State of California Vaccine Plan found here:
