Deputies responded to the report of an intoxicated male subject at Pinehurst Park

LOCATION: Pinehurst Park, 5800 Park Drive, Chino Hills
SUSPECT(S): Robert Perez, age 41, a resident of Chino Hills
VICTIM(S): San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy

SUMMARY: On Saturday, January 23, 2021, at approximately 12:43 pm, Chino Hills deputies responded to a report of an intoxicated suspect, later identified as Perez, who threatened and struck an employee working in an enclosed area not accessible to the public. A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy quickly arrived and located Perez, who refused to comply with the deputy’s commands and walked away. Perez resisted deputies attempts to take him into custody, and a use of force occurred. During the struggle, Perez attempted to disarm a deputy of his TASER but was unsuccessful. Perez was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center for several charges, including the attempt to disarm the deputy, battery, and public intoxication. No deputies were injured during the incident. Perez sustained a minor injury.
