On January 20, 2021 at approximately 2:34 p.m., officers responded to the front lobby of Sunnyvale DPS headquarters, on a report of a male subject (Leonid Solomonovich Yamburg; DOB: 9/28/69) who told a records clerk he killed his wife. Yamburg was immediately detained by officers.
Officers responded to the 900 block of West Homestead Road, entered Yamburg’s residence and located Yamburg’s wife, Svetlana Nikitinaand Yamburg’s eleven-year-old daughter. Sadly, both Svetlana and the eleven-year-old daughter were deceased.
Yamburg was arrested for the murder of Svetlana and his eleven-year-old daughter.
The specific cause of death is currently under investigation by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner.
This is a horrific tragedy and our hearts are broken for the victims, the victim’s families and the victim’s friends.
