INCIDENT: Mayhem, Carrying a Concealed Weapon in a Vehicle, Carrying a Loaded Weapon in Public with Suspicious Circumstances, Inflicting Corporal Injury on a Spouse/Cohabitant
LOCATION: 12100 block of Mariposa Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Chad Evan Young, 24-year old Hesperia resident
VICTIM(S): Confidential 25-year old Female
SUMMARY: On January 10, 2021, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the Travel Lodge Inn in the 12100 block of Mariposa Road. The caller reported an assault had just occurred at the location.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, later identified as Chad Young, hit the female victim several times in the face and head with a firearm and his fist. The victim, who knew the suspect, suffered multiple lacerations and a broken tooth as a result of the attack. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled prior to deputies arriving and was seen driving near the incident location. The suspect saw a deputy following and subsequently abandoned his vehicle, fleeing on foot near 7th Street and La Paz Drive. He was located and apprehended in a nearby alley. A firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
Young was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for mayhem, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in public with suspicious circumstances, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant.
