The DC Department of Parks and Recreation and the DC Department of General Services are both pleased to share with the community that the Hardy Park will be closed starting Thursday, January 21st, 2021 for renovations to the park. All areas of the park will be closed including the playground and field for the full site renovations. The only amenity which will remain open for the majority of the park renovation will be the tennis courts.

      The full park renovations will include the following:

• brand new 2-5 and 5-12 playgrounds
• an enhanced splash pad for children and families
• the regrading and sodding of the large athletic field
• the regrading and sodding of a lower playing field
• the inclusion of a walking track encircling the main field with and ADA upgrades
• an outdoor fitness workout circuit along the new walking track
• the addition of a large picnic pavilion and a central community gathering space
• an official dog park
• new storm-water bio-filtration areas
• new community gardens
• wildflower areas
• an enclosed space in the recreation center (the recreation center remains closed due to the current pandemic and construction)

Again, the tennis courts will remain open for the duration of this construction project with access only from Q Street.
