UPDATE January 5, 2021:

INCIDENT: Hit and Run / Possession of Destructive Device (Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher)

LOCATION: Glendora Drive / Barton Road, Grand Terrace

SUSPECT: Jesus Angel Rodriguez, 28 years old, resident of Colton

Detectives from Sheriff’s Central Station continued this investigation and on Monday, January 4, 2021 detectives arrested the registered owner of the vehicle, Jesus Rodriguez, a 28-year-old resident of Colton. He was taken into custody without incident and booked at Central Detention on a parole hold without bail.
Detectives found no injuries on Rodriguez related to this incident.

Detectives arrested charged Rodriguez for the following charges:
PC 18710(a): Possession of a Destructive Device (operational)
PC 148.5: Filing False Police Report
PC 550(a)(5): Filing False Insurance Claim
VC 20002: Non-injury Hit-and-Run

INCIDENT: Hit and Run / Possession of Destructive Device (Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher)

LOCATION: Glendora Drive / Barton Road, Grand Terrace

SUMMARY:
On Friday, December 25, 2020, deputies responded to an abandoned vehicle that was involved in a single vehicle traffic collision that occurred near the intersection of Glendora Drive and Barton Road in Grand Terrace, and the driver fled on foot. The Honda’s rear window was shattered from a bullet which entered the passenger’s compartment through the rear window, struck the inside of the windshield and came to rest on the dash. The center console contained a small amount of blood and an anti-tank rocket propelled grenade launcher was in plain view on the back seat. The registered owner of the Honda was identified as Jesus Rodriquez, a 28-year-old resident of Colton who is currently on parole for assault with an automatic weapon. The driver of the Honda was not located.
