Andrew Barkley of Palm Springs was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm

LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Highway / Persia Avenue, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT: Andrew Barkley, 26 year old resident of Palm Springs
SUMMARY:
On Friday, December 4, 2020 deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station were conducting patrol near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway / Persia Avenue in the city of Twentynine Palms.
Deputies observed a Chevrolet SUV traveling east on Twentynine Palms Highway and conducted a traffic stop of the SUV for vehicle code violations. The driver, Andrew Barkley, was found to not have a California Driver's License and was on CDC Parole. Deputies conducted a vehicle search and located a unregistered 9mm handgun inside the vehicle.
Deputies learned Barkley was a convicted felon and placed him under arrest for a weapons violation. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail where he is being held with no bail.
