On November 15th, 2020 Clayton County Police along with their S.T.A.R. Unit responded to  7310 Jonesboro Rd, Morrow, Ga in reference to a pedestrian that was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene.  

Clayton County Police S.T.A.R. Investigators were able to identify the suspect in this hit and run as Marquez Darquan Smith.  Smith unlawfully  followed too closely behind a white sedan, causing him to suddenly change lanes and drive in the center lane resulting in the death of a pedestrian.  Smith left the scene and failed to stop or render aid at the time of the collision.    Clayton County S.T.A.R. Investigators found Smith's vehicle to have disabling damage to the front windshield along with glass in the front seats. Video footage also shows Smith's vehicle driving in the center lane at the time of the crime. 

The Elite Fugitive Squad found Smith at his place of employment (Fresh Express) on Jonesboro Rd. and escorted him out, into custody, without incident.  Smith is now facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail known better as “The Hill-ton”.
