Specialized Enforcement Division assisted Yucaipa deputies and arrested Miguel Cazares of Colton for attempt murder

SUSPECT: Miguel Cazares, 44-year-old male resident of Colton
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Yucaipa Sheriff's Station responded to the intersection of Yucaipa Blvd and Hampton Road for a report of shots fired. The victim stated an unknown Hispanic male followed him from San Bernardino, and when the victim turned down Hampton Road the male fired a gun at the victim while he was driving. Deputies recovered evidence at the scene.
Through investigation, Deputy Arthurton was able to identify 44-year old Miguel Cazares as the shooter.
On November 27, 2020, deputies assigned to the Sheriff's Department Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) executed an arrest warrant for Cazares near his home in Colton. Evidence of the crime was recovered, and Cazares was arrested without incident. During the service of the warrant, deputies recovered a handgun stolen out of San Bernardino and an un-serialized handgun, also known as a "ghost-gun." Cazares was booked at Central Detention Center where his bail was set at $500,000.
