On November 10, 2020, around 8:30 PM, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a suspicious person in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. Deputies were dispatched to the area. When the first deputy arrived, they located the adult subject and discovered he was armed with a large kitchen knife. During the interaction between the deputy and the subject, an officer involved shooting occurred. Medical aid was rendered however the subject succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (661)861-3110.
The identity of the subject will be withheld pending notification by the Coroner’s Office. The involved deputy has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the investigation.
