Andrew Redmond of Yucca Valley was arrested after trying to set fire to a residence in the Town of Yucca Valley

SUSPECT(S): Andrew Redmond, 19 years old, resident of Yucca Valley

SUMMARY: On Friday, November 6, 2020, at 8:57 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to a male attempting to set fire to a residence at the 9000 Block of Hermosa Avenue in the Town of Yucca Valley.
Deputies responded to the residence and contacted Andrew Redmond, who was found by the homeowners setting fire to papers inside a bedroom of the residence. Deputies were able to detain Redmond without incident and located the source of the fire in the bedroom. San Bernardino County Fire personnel responded to the home and determined there were no additional ignition points or hazards inside the residence. Redmond was arrested for attempted arson and transported to the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.
