HEALTH CARE:
Pettis County Health Center

  • As of November 2, 2020 there are 1984 cases as compared to 1727 cases reported on October 26 and 1567 reported cases on October 19.  There are more than 500 active cases.   This is an increase of 257 cases.   This is an increase of 21% in the past 2 weeks.  Currently 28 Pettis County residents have died and 5 cases are under investigation.  The numbers are increasing much more rapidly than previously.   There were a total of 113 cases reported for Saturday and Sunday.
  • The positive percentages are not available at this time.
  • Halloween celebrations are very likely to contribute to the continuing increase in cases.   Unfortunately, people who were positive with active disease were observed out trick or treating.  Many pictures showed adults handing out candy without any face covering.   There were multiple parties in the community.
  • Once again, there is false information circulating on Facebook and other social media.   The information on COVID-19, the number of cases and the precautions that need to be followed are not made up.   The numbe of cases is based on data received at the Health Center from laboratories.   The precautions are based on the science of disease transmission.   The Health Center and the County Health Official do not post false information as compared to others who seem to want to confuse our community.
  • For individuals who may be in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19, please contact the County Clerk’s Office at 660-826-5000 ext 918 to discuss issues related to voting on November 3.
  • As a reminder, the face covering rule is still in place for Pettis County.   There has been no court ruling to overturn the rule.   The order of the Missouri Supreme Court mandates the wearing of a mask in all public areas of the court, including the lobby.
  • Mental health issues are a challenge during the pandemic.   There are people who are isolating in their homes for fear of catching the virus, but this isolation is not healthy for them.   The isolation and fear has passed the level of caution and is a threat to their well being.    Burrell has a crisis line at 1-800-395-2132.  Compass Health also has a crisis line at 1-800-237-4567 for substance abuse issue.   If you know of someone who is struggling with isolation and fear, please help them reach out for help.
  • The clusters of positive cases in the county continue to increase.  We often feel safe with people we know and see frequently.   What we do not know and can not tell by looking at a person is if that individual has been in contact with a positive case and may be infectious.  Please wear a mask, practice social distancing, use good hand washing/sanitizing and if you think you may have been exposed or have symptoms, please be tested.  We have good testing opportunities in this community.  There will be another drive in testing opportunity in our community during the 3rd week of November.
Bothwell Community Health Center
  • Bothwell has 17 hospitalized COVID patients at this time. Visitors are restricted to 1 patient identified designated visitor per patient stay. Visiting hours continue to be from 10 am - 4 pm. If you have a loved one that you would like to visit, virtual visits are also an option.
  • No visitors are allowed in the Bothwell Emergency Department.
  • Bothwell Walk In Clinic (located at 3700 W. 10th St. in Sedalia) continues to provide COVID-19 PCR curbside testing for all individuals. Please be patient as testing is on a first come bases and wait times may be longer due to increased volume                                                      Katy Trail Community Health is continuing to serve their patients.   To schedule an appointment, please call 877-733-5824
