Crimes Against Children Detectives arrested Andrew Valenzuela for willful cruelty to a child

LOCATION: 6400 Block of Athold Ave, Twentynine Palms, CA
SUSPECT: Andrew Valenzuela, 25-years-old, resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM: 4-month-old female
SUMMARY:
On Monday, October 26, 2020 at approximately 11:00 a.m., detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children (CAC) Detail were notified of a four-month-old female who was admitted to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with severe injuries. Doctors at LLUMC determined the injuries were caused by non-accidental trauma, consistent with child abuse.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives determined the victim was in the care of her father, Andrew Valenzuela, at the residence in Twentynine Palms and he caused the injuries to the victim. On October 26, 2020, Valenzuela was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center for violation of PC 273a(a) Willful Cruelty to a Child, with bail set at $100,000.
