Deputies arrested Leandrea Lamont Sims for assault with a firearm

LOCATION: 15000 Block Tonekai Road, Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUSPECT(S): Leandrea Lamont Sims, Jr., a 27-year-old resident of Victorville
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 25, 2020, at approximately 9:36 am, deputies from the Apple Valley Station responded to a report of a shooting in the 15000 block of Tonekai Road. Deputies responded and found the victim sitting in her vehicle. The victim had been driving down the road when her ex-boyfriend Leandrea Sims blocked the roadway with his vehicle preventing the victim from continuing. Sims exited his vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle at which time a verbal argument ensued. Sims got back into his vehicle and accelerated at a high rate of speed hitting the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle. Sims backed up his vehicle and then drove up next to the driver window and shot a total of four to five BB rounds into the victim’s vehicle. The victim was struck with at least one of the pellets and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for further evaluation.
Leandrea Sims was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center. The bail for Sims is set at $50,000 and his court date is October 27, 2020.
